Dentures Kent
Dentures have been used to replace missing teeth for many years. These removable replacements are designed to look and function like your natural teeth.
High Quality Dentures in Kent with Impeccable Results
At Southview Dental Care, we know that some of our patients may need a little help realising how great dentures can be. While we do everything we can to preserve your natural teeth, sometimes it’s not always possible — which is when we explore tooth replacement options that work for you and your lifestyle.
A well-fitting and well-crafted set of dentures can change your life for the better. For those with multiple missing teeth, dentures can help improve your smile and restore the function of your teeth.
We take great care in designing premium dentures for you that have a great fit, feel and aesthetic to bring a smile back to your face.
Complete and Partial Dentures are Available
Dentures are not an all-or nothing proposition. We see patients young and old who need different types of dentures for different reasons. Based on your needs, we can provide partial or full dentures at our UK dental practice.
A complete or full denture is one that replaces all the natural teeth in either the upper or lower jaws. Complete dentures are held in place using suction or an oral adhesive.
A partial denture fills the spaces left by lost or missing teeth. These dentures use precision metal clasps that anchor to the neighbouring healthy teeth. Partial dentures are a great option for patients who have healthy surrounding teeth that may not be strong enough to support a bridge.
Benefits of Getting Dentures
Our patients with dentures have already experienced the advantages to this tooth replacement option. Here are some of the good things about having dentures:
- Dentures provide structure and support to the face and cheeks
- Modern techniques and materials give dentures a far better fit and more natural appearance
- Easier eating with very few food limitations
- Improved speech because of better enunciation
- Increased self-esteem
Denture Fitting at Southview Dental Care
Getting dentures can feel a little daunting to some of our patients. We understand it’s a big step and big change, but our gentle approach and vast knowledge of this treatment should help put you at ease and give you confidence that dentures are worthwhile.
To start denture treatment, we examine your mouth to decide if dentures are suitable for you. In some cases, we may need to extract teeth and/or you may need treatment to get your gums into a healthier condition before we move forward.
Next, we take a digital scan or an impression of your gums and pass these detailed images or moulds to the dental technician who will make your dentures to fit the exact contours of your mouth. Once your dentures have been manufactured, we will have you back to our dental practice for a fitting and overview of how to care for your new dentures.
Despite improvements over recent years, we should point out that even the best dentures won’t feel the same as your natural teeth. They will take a bit of time to get used to, and talking and eating will take a bit of practise.
Taking Care of Your New Dentures
Like natural teeth, dentures can accumulate plaque and food debris, particularly in areas where the denture is in contact with the remaining teeth and gums. In addition to the usual oral hygiene measures, like tooth brushing, dentures should be cleaned regularly. Poor denture hygiene can result in stains on the denture and a bad odour. Both full and partial dentures can be removed at any time for cleaning and sleeping.
It is important that you visit your dentist to have your dentures and oral tissues evaluated yearly. Your dentures may need to be adjusted, relieved or even relined from time to time to ensure an optimal fit.
Financing is Available for Dentures
Don’t allow finances to delay your denture treatment. We have several finance options at the dental practice, with 0% interest-free and interest-bearing finance for treatments costing £350 or more. We will be happy to discuss the details with you if you are interested in applying for financing to pay for your denture treatment.
